Keto waffles may sound like an oxymoron but in fact they’re an easy-to-make breakfast, just as delicious as traditional waffles! You may hear them called keto chaffles as they’re a little crisper and thinner than traditional waffles.

These Keto Chocolate Chip Waffles will give your frozen Leggo waffles a run for their money. Chocolate chip chaffles require just a handful of ingredients, most of which you likely already have in your pantry if you’ve been keto for a while.

My kids go CRAZY over these keto waffles. They beg me to make them literally every weekend, to the put I’ve started making big batches and popping them in the freezer.

Much like you’d pull a regular waffle from the freezer and pop it in the toaster oven, you can do exactly that with these keto chocolate chip chaffles. That makes them an ideal keto breakfast for busy mornings, especially if you have kids.

That said, nothing really beats fresh keto chocolate chip waffles at a Saturday morning brunch, which has become a regular occurrence for my family.

You can serve these chocolate chip chaffles a variety of ways – traditional with butter and syrup, with a dollop of whipped cream or if you want to indulgent, a scoop of keto ice cream.

I’ve always thought of waffles as a breakfast food but I’ve seen chaffles being served as a dessert in the keto community so I had to try it out. I am officially a fan of Keto Chocolate Chip Waffles topped with a scoop of keto vanilla ice cream.

How To Make Keto Chocolate Chip Waffles:

Step 1. Combine melted butter and powdered sugar substitute until creamy and smooth.

Step 2. Stir in almond flour, baking soda, and salt.

Step 3. Beat in eggs, almond milk, and vanilla extract until well blended. Let sit for 3-5 minutes

Step 4. Fold in chocolate chips.

Step 5. Warm-up waffle maker.

Step 6. Add 1/2 cup of batter to the waffle maker.

Step 7. Cook until golden brown, approximately 5 minutes per keto waffle.

Step 8. Serve warm with butter and syrup.


What variations can I make to this Keto Chocolate Chip Waffle recipe?

Any variations to this recipe can potentially mess with the consistency and texture of the waffle. I’ve only tried it as-is and have not done any experimenting. That said, you can easily omit the chocolate chips for regular keto waffles.

Can I freeze these keto waffles?

Yes! That’s one of my favorite things about the recipe. I love to make a big batch of these keto waffles and freeze them. Just make sure to put a piece of parchment paper between each waffle.

How should I serve Keto Chocolate Chip Waffles?

There are a few ways I like to serve these chocolate chip chaffless. The first is traditional waffles, with butter and syrup. If I want something a little more indulgent, I’ll add some keto whipped cream. As I mentioned, I’ve also become a fan of enjoying chaffless as dessert and will often top these keto chocolate chip waffles with a scoop of ice cream for an evening snack.

  • 4 tbsp Unsalted butter melted
  • 3 tbsp Swerve confectioners sugar substitute
  • 1 c Almond flour
  • 1 ½ tsp Baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 Eggs
  • ½ c Unsweetened almond milk
  • 2 tsp Vanilla extract
  • ¼ c Lily’s chocolate chips


  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and powdered sugar substitute until smooth and creamy.
  2. Add in the almond flour, baking powder and salt, stir to combine.
  3. Mix in the eggs, almond milk and vanilla extract. Beat until well blended. Let the mixture set for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Heat a waffle maker to temperature.
  6. Add ½ cup of the batter to the waffle maker, and cook for 5 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Top with butter and your favorite sugar free keto syrup.
