Keto Bread

This Keto Bread, loaded with cheddar cheese, will become a staple in your keto diet. 

Bread is typically the first thing people think about cutting when they consider a keto diet. Bread, loaded with carbs, seems like an obvious “no way” in a keto low carb diet and when referring to traditional bread, it is.

But one of the important things about maintaining a keto diet long-term is finding replacements for the things you are most likely to miss. This Keto Bread, made with a base of almond flour, eggs and cheddar cheese, is one example of that.

For most people, a lifetime without bread seems daunting. I never considered myself one of those people who can’t live without bread….until I couldn’t eat it anymore and realized how many times I ate bread without thinking about it. When you cut bread out, a lot of things also go out the window, like a quick sandwich for lunch.

This keto cheddar bread changes all of that. Though the texture is not the same as a loaf of bread from the super market, keto bread rivals any bakery specialty bread or other homemade bread. 

Keto Bread is ideal for making sandwiches, I’ve found that turkey and cheddar sandwiches are divine on this bread due to the flavors baked in. You can also serve it with a keto soup or chili or enjoy a slice with butter as a snack any time. With the cheddar, garlic, parsley and oregano flavors this keto bread can be enjoyed as a snack as well as part of a meal. Top with a slice of cheese and/or meat for an afternoon snack.

For those new to the keto diet, this keto bread is one of the recipes that will help make the transition even easier and can become a transition staple.

How To Make Keto Bread:

Step 1. Preheat oven to 355 degrees and line a loaf pan with parchment paper.

Step 2. Beat eggs in a bowl until frothy.

Step 3. Add butter and mix well.

Step 4. Add baking powder and almond flour slowly, mixing in between. 

Step 5. Blend until mixture becomes thick.

Step 6. Stir in seasonings and cheese. Mix well.

Step 7. Pour mixture into loaf pan.

Step 8. Bake until a toothpick comes out clean, approximately 45 minutes.


What variations can I make to this keto bread?

Keto bread, while easy, is a bit of a finnicky recipe and changing out any of the ingredients can effect not only the flavor but the consistency and how well it bakes. The only changes I would consider making at to switch out the seasonings if you would prefer another.

Can I freeze keto bread?

Yes! Feel free to make a few loafs of this keto cheddar bread and freeze for up to three months.

How should I serve this keto cheddar bread?

There are so many ways to enjoy keto bread! As mentioned above, I love to use this bread to make sandwiches for lunch. It can also be served with chili or soup or even just a slice with cream cheese or butter.

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 c almond flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon xanthan gum
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 c cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 T garlic powder
  • 1 T parsley flakes
  • 1/2 T oregano flakes


  1. Preheat oven to 355 degrees
  2. Line loaf pan with a baking parchment paper
  3. Put the eggs into a bowl and beat until frothy
  4. Add softened butter to the eggs and mix well
  5. Add baking powder, and almond flour in small batches, mixing between
  6. Blend well, the mixture will get thick
  7. Add in cheese, parsley, garlic and oregano
  8. Mix well
  9. Pour into the loaf pan lined with parchment paper
  10. Bake for about 45 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean
  11. Allow cooling fully before slicing
